South Mountain Creamery is continuing their annual Thanksgiving turkey donation drive to provide farm-fresh, wholesome food for families in local Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania communities.

Last year, over 600 turkeys were donated, and South Mountain Creamery (SMC) plans to exceed that number again this year with distribution help from The Frederick Rescue Mission, Maryland Food Bank, Martha’s Table, as well as local schools in Maryland’s Frederick and Washington counties.

Donations can be made three different ways. Customers can add a donation turkey to their online South Mountain Creamery home delivery order, or they can place a physical order at South Mountain Creamery’s retail locations or farm stand at the Baltimore 32nd Street Farmers Market.

“We’ve been continuing this tradition for several years now,” says Tony Brusco, CEO of South Mountain Creamery. “We feel it’s a simple thing we can do that makes a big difference for people in our community.” SMC is a family owned and operated creamery and farm at its core, which means that supporting small, local, and family businesses is a top priority. This year, turkeys have been sourced from Sensenig Turkey Farm in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and all turkey purchases and donations directly support their family farm.

In addition to supporting local charities, every year the staff at South Mountain Creamery each receive a “thank you” turkey for keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.

“We’re grateful for all of their hard work,” says Brusco. “Each year, to show our appreciation, it’s our joy to be able to hand out free turkeys to every employee. We wish each and every one of our staff a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with their family and friends.”

Turkey pre-orders and donations will be open until November 11, 2024 through www.southmountaincreamery.com/shop. In addition to turkeys, South Mountain Creamery is also offering pre-orders for classic, chef-prepared sides, fresh-baked desserts, baked goods, and more classic holiday favorites.
