IN THE COMMUNITY

Serving Our Friends & Family

We’re passionate about our communities and are always looking for ways to improve the quality of life for those around us, starting with providing healthy food through our farm–because a healthy life starts with wholesome food. As a local, family-owned farm, we don’t just deliver your milk, eggs, and groceries, we strive to be part of our communities in all kinds of ways!

Giving Back To Our Community

Our community supports us in everything we do, like attending our events to purchasing our products, so we’re always looking for ways to give back! From volunteering our time, to donating pre-made meals, produce, Thanksgiving turkeys, and other food items, to raising money through silent auctions at events, we are passionate about supporting these organizations who are doing extraordinary work for those in need.

We encourage you to learn more about them:

Find Us At The Farmers Market

Our roots are based in local farmers markets around Maryland. We got our start bringing dairy and other farm products to over 10 markets each week before we started delivering farmers-market quality products directly to customers’ doorsteps. We still love to attend local markets, where we chat with people about farming, swap recipes, and get to know our customers better. Many of our home delivery vendor partnerships took root at these markets and continue to do so!

Find Us At Your Favorite Stadiums

We love seeing our products being enjoyed in all kinds of venues–including stadiums! The high energy and positive vibes at sports games and concerts is part of why our team loves working these events. That and making connections with you and your family over fun times and great ice cream. Come visit us the next time you’re cheering on your favorite team–we’d love to say hi!

Creating An
Agricultural Legacy

We believe it’s important and worth the effort to help create a sustainable agricultural community, starting with our farm as well as participating in local organizations.

Our family has a deep history with local and state farming organizations; South Mountain Creamery was founded by Randy and Karen Sowers, and Karen’s father Fred Beachley was a founding member of the Frederick County Soil Conservation District committee. Today, Randy and Karen’s son Ben, who manages our daily farm operations, serves as a Chairman for that very same committee.

Because we feel strongly about keeping up to date on farming best practices in land conservation and environmental stewardship, members of our family also serve on the Frederick County Agriculture Business Council, and Sam and Jeramiah Sowers, third-generation family members, are both a part of the Future Farmers of America!

Check out our Farming Practices page to learn more about our commitment to healthy and sustainable agriculture.
