All SMC Eggs are Certified Humane, which means you can always expect quality thanks to the rules and standards we follow to hold that certification. From making sure our chickens have lots of open space to roam to maintaining quality feed and a clean barn, the Certified Humane standards are a big benefit to the chickens’ health and wellness.

One of these requirements includes rotating our flock from our farm to another. Once every 18 to 20 months, we move our current hens to another farm, and we will receive a new flock in a few weeks’ time thereafter. While the chickens’ barn is empty, we use that time to deep clean and sanitize everything. This not only creates a fresh space for the new flock, but also prevents any potential diseases from spreading. Healthier living spaces means healthier chickens, and that means higher quality eggs!

During this transition, we’ve partnered with a local farm, whose brown eggs are also certified humane, to ensure we meet our egg order demands with the same level of quality. In the meantime, home delivery and retail customers will notice a temporary change in our egg carton packaging. Once we’ve finished the flock rotation, SMC labeled cartons will be back in home delivery orders.

We’re excited to welcome our new flock who will be arriving in the beginning of May!
